  • PIANO MOVING

Here's a photo of Mr. McClure with his piano moving crew unloading an antique square grand piano, one of the heaviest of all pianos to move at just under 1000 lbs!.  If he can move one of these monsters, you know he can move anything else. Usually one day per week Mr. McClure gets his crew together and can be seen delivering pianos, picking up pianos he's purchased or is taking to the shop for repairs, or just providing the finest local piano moving for another satisfied customer.  He makes piano moving look deceptively easy and that's why you should let him do it and not try it yourself.  Even if it cost your $225 or so to have a small piano moved, that would be a tiny amount of money should you try to do it yourself, have an accident and injure yourself or one of your "friends".  Such an accident could even cause you to become a defendant in a court of law.  Would it really be worth that to you?  Of course not.  Mr. McClure carries liability insurance and his employees are covered by a  worker's compensation policy.  No matter where you live in the tri-state area, or what your situation is, Mr. McClure can take care of your piano moving needs.  Trust him, you'll be glad you did.  He is also properly licensed in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania to provide this service.

  • PIANO TUNING

Mr. McClure is blesssed with a really good set of ears and that's what he relies on to tune your piano.  After using just one tuning fork set at A-440, Mr. McClure  will proceed to "give your piano a pitch"!  He does not charge extra for pitch raises like some other "piano tooners" but if it is exceptionally out of tune, he will probably make a recommendation to have it tuned again within 2-3 months.   Once he gets your piano stabilized, you can have him come and perform an annual tuning (aka check-up) on your piano once per year and you will be amazed at how well your piano will hold its tune in between his visits to your home or church.  Mr. McClure is the principal piano tuner for the Maryland Symphony, the Maryland Theatre, and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.  In other words, he prepares all of the concert pianos for all of the artists in this area that you go to hear perform!  Since they are always extremely pleased with the pianos he prepares, you can rest assured that you will be as well.  This is also a service that Mr. McClure is properly licensed to perform in your home in West Virginia, Maryland, or Pennsylvania.  One last request from Mr. McClure with regards to tuning:  IT NEEDS TO BE VERY, VERY, VERY QUIET!!!!!

  • PIANO REPAIRS

Mr. McClure has the skill, experience, hand/eye coordination, parts, and facilities to take care of almost every piano repair needed.  He's been doing repairs alongside his tunings for three decades so there's not many problems he can't handle.  He's an expert at diagnosing the problem and fixing the cause, not just the symptom.  In many cases, other "piano tooners"  create a lot of problems in the pianos they work on and Mr. McClure usually has to correct their work as well.  The bottom line is this, if you want it done right the first time, call Mr. McClure.  If he can't easily or quickly fix your piano's problem while he's there for the tuning, he'll take down the information he needs to send you a FREE estimate with pricing guaranteed for 90 days.

  • PIANO RESTORATION

Look at this happy couple.  This Conway Upright was very carefully restored at McClure's Piano Shop.  Work included restringing, new tuning pins, new keytops, and a completely refinished mahogany cabinet.  Why do they  look so happy?  Because now their 9 year old son can learn to play his great-grandparents piano!

This display of beautifully restored pianos could go on indefinitely.  But suffice it to say, let the pictures speak for themselves.  And you can rest assured, all of these pianos shown are once more singing like the day they were made thanks to the meticulous craftsmanship of Mr. McClure!

  • PIANO REFINISHING

This photo says it all.  As you can see, the piano shows the after and before.  Most piano finishes get very dark with age as this piano did.  But when refinished, the gorgeous natural mahogany as in this case, stepped out in all its glory. Perhaps you have an old piano that needs a cosmetic re-do.  McClure's Piano Shop is the place.  If you look carefully at this piano, you will also see that the keytops in the after portion have been recovered.  What a difference that can make as well!  Contact Mr. McClure today to see if a refinished piano is in your nearby future.  It would definitely be a way to enhance your already beautiful living room as well as preserve the family heirloom!
  • PIANO REMOVAL

Every now and then Mr. McClure encounters an old piano that is so worn out that it has no value to restore and/or no one wants it.  That's when he can offer his piano removal service.  For a fee based on his moving rates, he and his crew will get the piano out of the house, usually in one piece and since he lives in the country, he takes them home and burns them.  This is actually a better option than taking an old piano to the landfill because it eliminates all that bulk waste and he recycles the metal when the burn is complete.  There are additional charges if the piano has to be disassembled in the home prior to removal, such as a basement situation.  Here's what a piano burn looks like!
